About Vail

Vail – the town that started it all! Vail Mountain, founded by members of the 10th Mountain Division, opened its lifts in 1962 and quickly became the largest ski area in North America at the time. Skiers immediately fell in love with the renowned Back Bowls and the endless trails. The town of Vail consists of several wonderful areas in which to live. West Vail, Cascade, Potato Patch, Sandstone and East Vail are all within minutes of Vail Village and Lionshead via free bus. There are some many wonderful options for owning a home in the Vail area! Vail Village, known as the heart of Vail, is the valley’s most desirable address. Sitting at 8,150 feet, Vail Village is an elegant combination of ski shops and boutiques, bars and restaurants, hotels, private homes, and high-end condos. With cobblestone streets, a mix of European and American influenced architecture, and meandering pedestrian streets with bridges that cross over streams, Vail is brimming with charm.
